Overview
If you did not set a schedule for the scan when you created it, you must start it manually when you want it to run. Even if you've assigned a schedule to a scan, you can start it manually whenever you need it to run outside the scheduled time. You have the option of starting individual scans or selecting multiple scans. You can start scans while working on any page in the DryvIQ Platform using the Scan now option on the top menu bar, or you can start scans on the scans pages.
Using the Scan Now Menu
The date of the last scan is displayed next to the Scan Now button on the top menu bar. You can manually trigger a content scan at any time using this button. The menu that displays allows you to start one scan at a time. To start multiple scans simultaneously, you will need to start scans from the Content Scans page.
- When you click Scan now, a menu displays and lists all the data sources assigned to content scans.
- The menu initially displays 15 data sources. You will see a Load more button if you have more than 15 data sources. Click the button to display the next 15 data sources.
- Click the Scan now button next to the data source you want to scan.
- Once a scan is triggered, the Scan now button next to the data source will change to a label that displays the scan status. A “Running” status indicates the scan is in progress, while a “Queued” status means it is waiting to start. The scan will run based on its priority in the queue.
- To close the menu, click the main Scan now button used to open the menu or click outside of the menu.
Paused Scans
If a scan shows a “Paused” status, you can resume it on the Content Scans page. Find the scan in the scan list and click the Scan button.
Starting Scans from the Scans Pages
Both the main Content Scans and the Child Scans pages support starting a single scan or starting multiple scans simultaneously.
Starting Individual Scans
Click the Scan button to start a scan. The scan information identifies the percentage of the scan that has been completed and how many files have been scanned so you can monitor the progress. Once a scan is running, the button will become a Pause button. You can use this button to stop the scan as needed.

Starting Multiple Scans Simultaneously
You can also start multiple scans at once if needed. If scans are set to run on a schedule, manually starting them will override the schedule and start the scan. When the scan is complete, it will continue to run as scheduled.
- Select the box that displays when you hover on the row.
- As you select scans to start, the label for the Start scans button will change to reflect the number of selected scans. Once you finish making your selections, click the Start # scans button.
- You are prompted to confirm you want to start the selected number of scans. Click OK to continue (or Cancel to cancel the action).
- DryvIQ begins starting the selected scans and displays the progress. Do not refresh the page or close the browser while the scans are starting, as this will interrupt the process and cause failures.
- You will see a message indicating all the scans have started. Click Close to close the modal.
